This series arises as a consequence of confinement. It is a reflection on the explicit language and the implicit content. It is very striking to me how these two can be so contradictory, how suggestive it is to be what is self-proclaimed over what is.
My work with red roses starts from recognizing in them a symbol of romantic love. Throughout history, romantic love has been a matter of weight and high cost for the development and professional integration of women, it has been an excuse for their submission within the borders of the home, to domestic work, to devotion to maternity etc.
Relying on the symbolic, in this series I intervene the red roses by way of aggression, torture, reckoning.
